You can record the content of any window or selection area you want to, and the program allows you to define the size of the area, and if you need to, you can record a number of lines or text.Īnother interesting feature that you can use in order to create even more complex scripts is the ‘Record’ button that you 384a16bd22 ‘Mouse button and mouse wheel, while dragging’,Īlong with recording mouse actions, Keymacro enables you to record mouse drags, drag and drop, hot keys, hot texts and other mouse gestures. If you need to define a particular mouse button as a hot key, for instance, you can select the specific button and the content of the window you are working on, and if you need to be a bit more specific, you can choose between the following options: There is no limit on how many mouse actions you can automate, with up to an unlimited number of macros recording and execution, as long as you like. In order to accomplish this task, Keymacro just requires you to drag a mouse cursor on the window you want the macros to work, and by pressing the record button, it will start to capture your mouse actions and the content of whatever window is currently active, without leaving the software.Īs mentioned before, Keymacro provides a variety of scripting languages that you can use in order to code your own mouse macros. Mario is concerned that Betty plans to keep the company to herself and convinces Armando to make her fall in love with him for security. However, because of how the plan works, EcoModa has been sold (in paper) to the fake company, setting up Betty as the president. EcoModa's vice president (and Armando's best friend) Mario Calderon is the only other person at EcoModa that knows about the business plan. Betty reluctantly agrees to help him and asks her best friend, Nicolas Mora, to go along with it. However, Armando asked Betty to fake the annual budget reports in order to keep the plan a secret from his family, not wanting to disappoint them regarding his leadership skills as the new president of EcoModa. Once the summer fashion line is released, EcoModa will be secure in their finances and the fake company can be dissolved. The fake company prevents the banks from taking over EcoModa's stocks, primarily because of Betty's business savvy and financial contacts. The business plan sets up a fake company, run in name by Betty, as a firm financial backer of EcoModa. So out of loyalty, and love, to Armando, she helps him launch a risky new business plan that could mean the downfall of EcoModa, but if successful, could bring the company back to firm financial standing. Throughout the weeks, Betty falls in love with Armando but keeps her feelings a secret.Īlong the way, Ecomoda falls into a scheme that causes the company to lose millions of dollars, therefore putting Ecomoda into financial ruin. Nevertheless, Betty proves herself invaluable as she maneuvers effortlessly in the business and finance milieu, earning respect among industry insiders and the secretaries whom would become her close friends, lately called El cuartel de las feas (The club of the ugly women). Since EcoModa is a fashion company primarily concerned with image and beauty, Patricia is seated in the lobby and Betty is seated in a stock room behind Armando's office. In order to please Marcela, Armando hires as his secretaries both Betty, the ugly but brilliant economist, and the very attractive but not so intelligent Patricia. While he is concerned about her "ugliness", he likes the idea that she could be his ally, rather than a spy. He is reluctant to hire Patricia because he assumes that Marcela would want her to spy on him, given his reputation as a notorious womanizer. Armando is in search of a new secretary and first interviews Marcela's best friend, Patricia Fernández. He is engaged to Marcela Valencia, an EcoModa executive and daughter of the deceased co-founder, Valencia. She sends her résumé to EcoModa without a photograph, thus securing an interview.Īrmando Mendoza, EcoModa's new president, is the smart, handsome, and well-educated son of the company's retired co-founder Roberto Mendoza. After searching unsuccessfully for a job to match her education and experience, she applies for a position as the secretary to the president of EcoModa, a highly successful, trendy fashion manufacturer/retailer founded by two families, the Mendozas and the Valencias. Though she has a master's degree in finance and graduated at the top of her class, Betty has been unable to secure a job interview, because, she claims, her ugly photograph ruins her otherwise impressive résumé. She becomes Armando's accomplice in a clandestine scheme to save EcoModa from financial ruin and they become romantically involved. Betty constantly faces the scorn of EcoModa's attractive manager-owners but proves herself indispensable to EcoModa's new president, Armando Mendoza. This is the first case of Odersky’s equivalence: signatures and traits. This is not the signature listed by Okasaki, but the signature here is closer to the Ordering trait in Scala standard library: The contract is that the result of compare is negative if the first is less than the second, zero if equal, otherwise, positive. ORDERED is our ML signature, which specifies a type T and a function named compare that takes a pair of Ts to an int. To implement a set, we’re going to need to be able to compare the elements, so we’ll demand that our elements are ordered. We will come back to ML functors in due course, but let’s start with a signature. Paulson, ML for the Working Programmer, 2nd Edition, (1996) pp.59 Signatures as Traits ML also provides functors–structures taking other structures as parameters– An ML signature specifies a class of structures by listing the name and type (or other attributes) of each component. This is a handy source as all the implementations in this book are in Standard ML (and Haskell in the appendix), so we can compare our Scala translations against the original.īefore we proceed much further we should make sure we have an understanding of the ML module system.Īn ML structure combines related types, values and other structures, with a uniform naming discipline. I’m going to use a set data structure adapted from chapter 2.2 of Purely Functional Data Structures by Chris Okasaki. Refinement ≅ Sharing Constraint Scala à la ML modulesįor the rest of this article we’re going to walk through an example to aid our exploration of the above equivalence between Scala and Standard ML. Here, Odersky points out the inspiration he drew from Modula-2, Modula-3, Haskell, and Standard ML of particular interest is the equivalence he draws between Scala and Standard ML’s module system. With this context, the slide I’d like to discuss in depth is titled “Scala’s Modular Roots”. In his talk, Odersky laments that Scala is seen as precariously balancing between OOP and FP, and argues that rather than call Scala an ‘ object/functional’ language–thus setting itself up to be caught in the crossfire of perpetual holy wars–we should instead call it a ‘modular’ language. The original academic agenda for Scala was to create a hybrid language that combines object-oriented and functional programming. Naturally, he refined his slide deck over the course of the tour, but one constant and core idea in his talk was Scala as a ‘modular language’. The purpose of this article, however, is not to critique Odersky’s talk and vision, but to explore just a single slide. And what’s more, I also have the sense that many ‘Scala people’ are “ok with that”. While Odersky seemed successful in drawing out seven core aspects of Scala, it remains a language that, as a whole, is powerful, expressive, unopinionated, and complicated. I will not attempt to describe or diagnose the nature and intricacies of the Scala community, but I have the sense that Odersky’s attempt to highlight the essence of Scala–-the simple parts, as he sees them–was ultimately received with some skepticism. This latter aspect is, while understandable, rather unfortunate. Due to the scheduling, ‘Scala – The Simple Parts’ had an air of a roadshow (he is a founder of Typesafe after all) due to the content, it also had an air of defensiveness. Similar to his 2013 talk ‘Scala with Style’, which also concluded its tour at that year’s Scala Days, Odersky’s 2014 talk appeared as a mix of advocacy, evangelism, and an attempt by a language designer to make explicit his authorial intent–as much as that is possible. The first stop was the flatMap(Oslo) conference in Norway, and then one might have observed a blur resembling Martin across Europe and the US, with a grand finale at this years’s Scala Days. Earlier this year Martin Odersky went on a whistle-stop tour of conferences and meetups with his latest talk, ‘Scala – The Simple Parts’. on an individual level or by the developer," streamlining your workflow and giving your more granular control over your site.įor a more comprehensive list of features, you can check out the RapidWeaver 8 release notes provided by Realmac. Spray around corners, windowsills, and door entryways. If you want to spray peppermint oil to repel spiders, start with all the entry points. But of course, the peppermint oil spray will only work if you apply it correctly. To make that, all you have to do is replace the vinegar with a shot of dish soap.īoth formulas are equally as effective. Some people like to use a more straightforward solution without any vinegar. Give the bottle a good shake to mix everything up, and you’re good to go! Then, add about 20 drops of your peppermint oil. To create a spray solution, add one and a half cups of water and about half a cup of white vinegar to a standard spray bottle. Sprays are the most common application technique, as you can create invisible boundaries and treat areas all over your home (it’s one of our favorite ways to get rid of spiders in garages). Using Peppermint Oil Spray As A Repellentįor any other case, peppermint oil spray is likely your best bet. However, the impact won’t be as noticeable unless you’re dealing with a super confined infestation. Diffusers are particularly effective, as the oil vaporizes into tiny molecules that float through the air. Oil burners and diffusers are readily available and can fill a room up with some pleasant fragrance. If your potential spider problem is limited to a small area, you could try making the oil airborne. Like most essential oils, peppermint is quite versatile. In fact, there are a few different methods you can use. Using peppermint oil to get rid of spiders is fairly easy. It can prevent spiders from ever wanting to cross the threshold and get into your home when used correctly. Whatever the case may be, peppermint oil for spiders is incredibly effective (if you use it properly). They’re thought to play a large part in peppermint oil’s repellent properties. Monoterpenoids are natural fumigants found in many essential oils. As a result, they smell by walking!Ĭrawling over surfaces covered in a strong smell like peppermint oil only ruins their ability to search for food.Īnother theory suggests that the oil’s monoterpenoids are to blame. Spiders have scent-sensitive hairs on their legs instead of receptors in their mouth. One hypothesis is that the intense aroma throws off their own sense of smell. The exact reason why spiders hate peppermint oil so much isn’t apparent, but there are some theories and plenty of anecdotal evidence. However, peppermint oil seems to have the largest impact. Other aromatic essential oils, such as tea tree, citronella, and eucalyptus, have a similar effect. Quick Tip: It’s not just spiders that think so! Many bugs hate the stuff. But to spiders? That fragrant aroma is overbearing and uncomfortable! For us humans, peppermint is usually a pleasant smell that reminds us of candy, cooking, and refreshing sweets. I don’t think it’s a huge group as we started setting traps, using peppermint oil and cleaning soon after the first signs. The reason peppermint oil repels spiders comes down to the smell. My understanding is that most mouse groups are around 5 so I’m hoping I’ve almost won the battle. But there was a guy on YouTube who seemed to have successfully ended his rodent infestation with diffusers and peppermint oil.Īm I wasting my time here? I’ve noticed less mouse poop but that may be because I killed 3 with Victor traps. I don’t know about the science but is most if not all of the gas from the diffuser being wasted? I feel like it all goes up in the air high while mice stay low on the ground unaffected. Technically, peppermint oil just keeps mice away from peppermint oil so it’s not a cheat code but I think it will discourage mice from going to certain places. So the past couple days I bought some oil diffusers and a big bottle of peppermint oil to sort of fumigate the basement area with peppermint oil. Now with cotton balls I think the smell can wear off and theoretically the mice could even grab the cotton balls and use it for their nest. I’ve got some mice in the home now but one way we’ve tried to keep mice out of certain areas is peppermint oil and cotton balls. Security options aren’t as comprehensive. Can be sluggish when using Office applications.Microsoft Access is not available for Mac.So how do they do it? The answer is: not as well as they do the Microsoft side of things – although this is to be expected. That or half the team has a MacBook at home which they want to use for work on the go! For example, you might have 95% Windows machines in the office, however your designers use a Mac. Microsoft know that they need to be inclusive in their offering to not alienate customers. Microsoft has built their suite out so that you can use Microsoft 365 if you have a Mac, plus the suite is also available on mobile for iOS users. But that doesn’t mean that Microsoft products don’t work with Apple products. What are the limitations as compared to Office 365 for PC?Īs you’d be aware, Microsoft and Apple are fierce competitors in the operating system and software market. Of course, if you have other digital-first practices, workflows, and software in place already, and would just like to use the Office software locally, you can do that too. In short, Microsoft can provide the modern work environment almost all through the Microsoft 365 platform – should you wish to take advantage of it. Workflows can be built in that streamline bureaucratic processes including forms and approvals. Employees are able to access all their important files and communications and do work from anywhere, on any device – if you set up remote working capabilities. Teams can be used to replace internal emails, meeting organisation, and instant messaging apps. Instead, with Microsoft 365, you now have a fully fledged digital workplace, should you wish to take advantage of the many benefits that subscription offers. Working with Microsoft 365 with your business, it’s no longer about a way to organise your business email server, have top of the line word processing and spreadsheets, and software that the team already knows their way around. The name change wasn’t to confuse customers, rather to reposition Microsoft’s range of cloud services to ‘more than just Office.’Īnd it certainly is more than the traditional Office suite that they offer as part of the package, with products such as SharePoint, Teams, file storage, and more available as part of the deal. In 2020, Microsoft changed the name of its packages from Office 365 to Microsoft 365 – for business as well as personal accounts. Owners can download the full Microsoft application suite locally, as well as use online, cloud-based versions of the Office apps, as well as a range of other Microsoft cloud services for business. Subscriptions instead are yearly, dependant on the number of monthly users. Office 365, introduced in 2011, not only heralded the start of a new subscriptions model for the Microsoft suite, but a move towards web applications and a supporting ecosystem for Microsoft. For instance, if you had Word 2010, you’d need to purchase a new license if you wanted to update to Word 2013. Old Office licenses were for a particular version and number of users and were a flat fee. In the past, businesses bought a version of Office that included a particular version of the suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.), all available to install locally onsite. That’s due to the way in which Office is now offered for businesses. And it’s not just Windows users that can benefit from this suite of applications, it’s Mac users, too – but there are some limitations.īut before we get into that – why the name change?
